HorrorFest International Film Festival to begin Wednesday

The HorrorFest International Film Festival will take place from Sept. 16 to Sept. 19 in the Electric Theater, St. George. The 2026 festival boasts a lineup of feature-length and short horror films from around the world, alongside filmmaker Q&As, industry panels, special guests, throwback screenings and events designed to celebrate everything that goes bump in the night.

It will also feature industry discussions with screenwriter Chris Thomas Devlin and producer Christian Armogida. Devlin, whose credits include 2023’s “Cobweb” and the 2022 “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” remake, will take part in a horror‑writing panel. Armogida, whose producing credits include work with filmmaker Oz Perkins, will join a separate conversation focused on horror production craft.

Festival programming kicks off Wednesday, Sept. 16 with badge pickup starting at noon. Screenings run across four full days, grouped under curated thematic blocks including “Tales from the Utah Side,” “Hauntings Are Reel,” “Creature Feature” and “Die Laughing.” Most short‑film and feature screenings are followed by live Q&A sessions with filmmakers, giving film‑production students and film enthusiasts direct access to working industry professionals.

Beyond film viewings, the packed schedule hosts special signature events: the “Necro Radio” audio‑horror brunch on Thursday morning, an unannounced 1980s mystery throwback screening Thursday night, cereal‑themed breakfast paired with horror trivia Saturday morning, and multiple catered meals reserved exclusively for badge holders.

HorrorFest International Film Festival grew from a small, two‑day Utah event launched in 2002 into a global horror cinema showcase rebranded in 2020. The festival highlights classic horror works and independent creators, welcoming both long‑time genre fans and new audiences. It is presented by the Film and Media Alliance of Southern Utah.
