Southern Utah University’s International Affairs is hosting its second annual international prom on Friday, April 3, from 9-11 p.m. in the Sharwan Smith Student Center Rotunda.
The theme of this year’s prom is Decades: Celebrate a Century of Style. Students are encouraged to dress up in whatever they feel comfortable in.
“We are excited to be hosting another prom this year,” said Assistant Director of International Student and Scholar Services Keri Romine. “We hosted prom consistently from 2016-2020 and then took a hiatus and began hosting again last year.”
Decade-themed photobooths will be set up around the rotunda for students to visit throughout the night. Music will be provided by Said Huante. They are an International Student Ambassador and student alumnus who curated a playlist spanning nearly every decade of the 20th century.
“As always, we are excited to host prom for all students and hope that all students will come hang out with us,” Romine continued. “We do all the fun things of prom, except prom court, as everyone is a king and queen for the night with us.”
The event is being held in the rotunda this year rather than The Great Hall because dances are being limited to other locations. In past years, elaborate kits were created to add to the theme, but this year, Romine explained that they are trying something new.
Don’t miss the opportunity to dance the night out with your friends. For more information, visit the International Affairs’ Instagram.
