Tuacahn Amphitheater hosts two nights of Xtreme Bull Riding

The Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association held its annual Xtreme Bull Riding event at the Tuacahn Outdoor Amphitheater in Ivins, Utah, on Friday, March 27, and Saturday, March 28.

The PRCA Xtreme Bulls featured 35 elite bull riders, including Cedar City local, Cody Urie. Riders competed for a $40,000 cash prize, a belt buckle, a Rolex watch and the chance to compete in the 2026 National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.

Brady Turgeon, from New River, AZ, made history over the weekend, earning the biggest payday of his career with a 93-point ride on Saturday. The 22-year-old broke the record for the highest-scored ride in Ivins.

“You watch the greats do it on TV,” Turgeon said. “Being able to do it myself makes me speechless, to be honest.”

Tuacahn’s Outdoor Amphitheater provided a one-of-a-kind location for the riders and audience. The theater stage transformed into a full rodeo arena, surrounded by Southern Utah’s red rock landscapes. The Diamond G Rodeo team spent multiple days prior to the event preparing the stage.

“One of the guys at Tuacahn asked if there was any way we could put (a rodeo) on here in the parking lot,” said Diamond G President Steve Gilbert. “I came down and looked at it, and I said, ‘Let’s put it on the stage,’ and he said, ‘There’s no way.'”

Xtreme Bulls is an audience favorite, with the event being nearly sold out each year. Fans show up for a thrilling night of bull riding, followed by the Zions Bank firework show that lit up the red-rock canyon.

“The feedback from the community is wildly positive, and the event is typically sold out every season,” said Darillyn Southworth, production manager at Tuacahn Amphitheater. “Most people say you have to see it to believe it.”

The PRCA Xtreme Bulls is continuing its North American tour in arenas around the country. They will return to Utah in July, and they can also be found in neighboring states, including Nevada, Arizona and California.
