What’s playing this week: A local arts preview

Southern Utah University and the Cedar City community are offering a variety of events this week, including documentary screenings, a film and live performances.

Utah in the ‘70s screening and Q&A

A screening of the documentary “Utah in the ‘70s” will take place on Wednesday, March 25 from 6-8 p.m. in Bristlecone Hall, room 105. In partnership with PBS Utah and the SUU filmmaking program, the documentary explores a decade of cultural, social and political change in the state. A Q&A with Cedar City Historian Ryan Paul and PBS Utah Station Manager James Davie will follow the screening. More information is available here.

Good Grief! Black Box Dance performance

Mariah Godfrey will present “Good Grief!,” a Black Box Dance performance on Friday, March 27 at 5 p.m. and Saturday, March 28 at 4:30 p.m. in the back gallery of the Southern Utah Museum of Art. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Life of Ivanna documentary

Another documentary, “Life of Ivanna,” will be shown on Thursday, March 26, at 7 p.m. in the Sharwan Smith Student Center, room 161. The film will explore themes of gender, environmental challenges and resilience. The screening is free and open to all, followed by a discussion.

The World According to Snoopy: The Musical

The Forge presents “The World According to Snoopy: The Musical” at the Cedar Fun Center from March 26-30 at 7 p.m. The show brings the Peanuts gang to life with fun, music and heart. Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for children, seniors and veterans. An option for a Family of 4 Pass for $50 is also available. Tickets can be bought here.
