Thunderbirds Weather Forecast: March 2 – March 8

Southern Utah University’s spring break is near, Thunderbirds. However, students will still have to endure another week of Cedar City winter weather before leaving for vacation.

After last week’s sunny skies and warm temperatures, Cedar City is expecting another dose of precipitation next week. Wednesday, March 4 through Friday, March 6 have an expected 35% chance of rainfall.

High temperatures will remain in the low to mid 50 degree range throughout the week. Temperatures will decrease to the high 20s and low 30s in the early mornings and late evenings.

Wind speeds will remain under 15 mph throughout the week.

With spring break approaching, students can expect safe travel conditions, but should still remain cautious in case of icy roads and busy traffic. The United States Department of State advises those traveling to other countries to stay up to date with their location’s Travel Advisory.

“A Level 4 Travel Advisory indicates a ‘Do Not travel’ warning due to significant dangers, such as crime, political instability or the risk of kidnapping or detention,” said the U.S. DOS. “No one should travel to Level 4 areas for spring break or any other reason.”

For those looking for a warm getaway during their time off from school, neighboring cities like St. George, Utah, Mesquite, Nev. and Las Vegas are less than a few hours away from Cedar City and offer significantly warmer temperatures, pools, shopping and other activities.
