Southern Utah is home to a lively local music scene. Here are some opportunities to get involved in it this week.
Tuesday, Feb. 24
The Johnson Arts Center at 59 N. 100 W. will present its weekly SokHop performance. This week’s performers will be Frozen Desserts and Slamhog. Community members can gather to hear alternative/indie and “liminal sludge” music for $5 starting at 7:15 p.m.
Sophia Kerr will be performing her junior flute and percussion recital in the Thorley Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. The concert is open to the public and free to attend.
Wednesday, Feb. 25
Jadon Hall will be performing his senior trombone recital starting at 7:30 p.m. in the Thorley Recital Hall. The performance is open to the public and free to attend.
Thursday, Feb. 26
Zach Allred will be performing his junior horn recital starting at 7:30 p.m. in the Thorley Recital Hall. The performance is open to the public and free to attend.
The BopCats will perform their weekly live jazz show in the Sharwan Smith Student Center Living Room starting at noon. Catch them between classes or jam out during your lunch break to standard classics and new tunes.
Friday, Feb. 27
Bridger Saunders will be performing his junior tuba recital starting at 7 p.m. in the Thorley Recital Hall. The performance is open to the public and free to attend.
Saturday, Feb. 28
SUU Woodwind faculty and guest performers, the Grace Trio, will put on a concert as part of SUU’s Woodwind Day. They will perform at 5 p.m. in Thorley Recital Hall.
The Willow Glen Resort at 3308 N. Bulldog Road will host various artists for their weekly open mic night. The Roadhouse Wranglers will kick the evening off with a performance at 7 p.m., after which anyone is welcome to get up on stage and share their talents.
