Cedar City to receive heavy rain and snowfall this week

Cedar City, Utah is forecasted to receive heavy rain and snowfall from Monday, Feb. 16 to Friday, Feb. 20.

There is a 100% chance of precipitation on Monday and Tuesday, with temperatures dropping as low as 30 degrees Fahrenheit.

On Wednesday, there is a forecasted 92% chance of snowfall. Temperatures will fall as low as 15 degrees Fahrenheit.

Wednesday through Friday is expecting to accumulate up to three inches of snowfall.

With the precipitation, the National Weather Service has released a wind advisory for a majority of western Utah, ranging from the Salt Lake area down to Cedar City. Wind speeds are to reach an estimated 50 mph, causing blizzards and extreme low temperatures.

Residents are advised to plan for possible power outages and flooding. Heavy gusts of wind can blow unsecured objects that can cause potential dangers while driving or walking outdoors.

Low temperatures can result in black ice and dangerous road conditions. Those traveling by vehicle should proceed slowly and allow extra space between them and other vehicles.
