Southern Utah has a vibrant live music scene, so here are some opportunities to experience it this week!
On Tuesday, Jan. 13, the Jazz Alliance of Cedar City will be performing their monthly concert at Off the Cuff Comedy on 913 S. Main St. In addition to the house band, January’s show will also feature Glenn Webb on vibes and Rob Schmidt on trumpet. The show is free, open to the public and starts at 7 p.m. Refreshments and soulful melodies will be provided to attendees.
Additionally, the Johnson Arts Center at 59 N. 100 W. will present their weekly SokHop performance on Tuesday. Community members can gather to hear live, local music for $5. This week’s bands are St. George’s Vernon Worthen and Flower House. Both groups will serenade concertgoers with indie rock tunes starting at 7:15 p.m.
On Saturday, Jan. 17, the Willow Glen Resort at 3308 N. Bulldog Rd. will host various artists for their weekly open mic night. The Roadhouse Wranglers will kick the evening off with a performance at 7 p.m. after which anyone is welcome to get up on stage and share their talents.
To celebrate Parowan’s 175th birthday, the city is hosting a Birthday Ball on the same day. The event will be at the Iron County Fair Building on 471 E. 40 S. and feature live music by Cedar City’s own Muddy Boots Band and an array of refreshments. The dance is free to attend and will take place from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. Saturday night.
That’s all for now, folks! Stay tuned for next week’s concert lineup.
