SUU News Weather Warning

This week marks a change in the weather for Southern Utah and the surrounding areas, with Cedar City experiencing colder temperatures and rainfall.

The current forecast shows highs in the low to mid 40s throughout the week, with a 76% chance of rain and snow on Wednesday, Nov. 19. The combination of precipitation and lower temperatures can create hazardous road conditions that must be handled with extreme caution.

It is common for black ice to form  this time of year, so drivers should give themselves and others plenty of space on the road. Experts also recommend driving under the speed limit and avoiding quick starts, stops and turns, as this can cause damage to brakes and result in cars sliding on the road.

For SUU students looking forward to traveling home for Thanksgiving break, allow excess time to reach destinations. Cruise control should not be used during bad weather or on slick roads. .

According to UDOT Traffic, the roads out of Cedar City should be safe to travel as of Tuesday, Nov. 18. However, please proceed with caution, as these conditions are subject to change.
