FAD Fête draws crowds to view SUU student and faculty art

SUMA held its Fall Filmmaking, Art and Design Fête on Monday, Nov. 17. The event showcased the opening of the Fall BFA Student Exhibition and the SUU Faculty Exhibition.

Sublime: Fall 2025 Senior BFA Student Exhibition displays the capstone projects of SUU seniors in the Department of Filmmaking, Art & Design. Works range from photographs to sculptures to paintings and beyond.

“When you do just one exhibit, you only get a feel for one artist, so I like the way that they incorporate all the different variations and styles,” said attendee Cydnee Lee.

SUU faculty were also present to appreciate their students’ work and showcase their own pieces.

Assistant Ceramics Professor Jason Walker explained that having students see their professors’ work allows them to more fully understand why they teach the way they teach.

“It’s important for everybody to see the hard work that goes into everything we do in and outside of the classroom,” said Assistant Professor of UX/UI design Leah Chultz. “I think it’s really awesome to see the range of different styles, abilities, skills and aesthetics.”

Attendees conversed and admired the art over refreshments and soft jazz music.
“People who love art are a lot closer than you think,” said Kayla Andersen.

The Sublime: Fall 2025 Senior BFA Student Exhibition will be on display through Dec. 12, 2025 and the 2025 Filmmaking, Art & Design Faculty Exhibition will be on through March 7, 2026. They can be seen at SUMA during their normal hours of operation. For more information visit SUMA’s website.
