SUU News Movie Review: “Now You See Me” three delivers a disappointing performance

“Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” was recently released on Nov. 14, 2025, and it is the third film of the “Now You See Me” franchise.

“Now You See Me,” starring Jesse Eisenberg, centers around the thrilling heists of “The Horseman,” a group of magicians using their talents to bring justice to a cause.

The unique plot of the first two films delivered comedy and excitement, however, this was not the case for the third film, “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t.”

Many of the original characters returned for the 2025 reprise, including Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson and Dave Franco. A new generation of actors joined them, including Ariana Greenblatt, Justice Smith and Dominic Sessa.

While the performance was decent overall from the new, young actors, the film felt more like a Disney Channel show than the classic “Now You See Me” series. The newly introduced characters were given very little background and explanation, but they still upstaged the original “Horsemen” we all know and love.

“This movie felt like an overworked employee doing the bare minimum just to keep their job,” said an anonymous critic. “Despite a fantastic cast, the acting, dialogue and overall plot fell flat.”

The film featured fun scenes of magic and mystery, but in the end, the entire storyline seemed silly, and just didn’t make sense. It was lazily written compared to the first two of the series.

The movie had its moments with funny lines and well-produced camera work, but it is clear that it was geared towards a different demographic than the first two movies.

“This movie is definitely for a younger generation than the last as this sort of constant barrage of verbal intercourse reminds me more of college kids bantering than anything else,” said another review.

Despite the low ratings, “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” reached over $75 million in the box office over the last weekend, surpassing multiple other movie releases.

While it may not be perfect or hold up to the first two, this film can be enjoyable for those looking for a simple, magic filled comedy. Though for anyone hoping to feel the nostalgia of the first “Now You See Me” movies, this one may come as a disappointment.
