A new PVC pipe manufacturing plant is bringing several high-paying jobs to southern Utah. The plant will manufacture pipes safe for water consumption near Cedar City.
PPI America is a prominent South Korean PVC pipe company. Their PVC pipes are certified by the National Sanitation Foundation for safe drinking. PPI America imports these products from South Korea and installs them across the country.
“Clean, reliable water is vital to Utah’s future,” said Jefferson Moss, the executive director at the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity.
PPI America qualified for the Rural Economic Development Tax Incentive Fund, which reduces taxes on revenue in an effort to stimulate growth in rural Utah. As part of the initiative, PPI America plans to invest $52 million into the plant and create 50 new jobs, with an average wage of $100,000 for employees. In return for this investment, Utah is offering a 30% tax credit on the revenue generated by the project.
“[PPI America’s] decision to invest in Cedar City with a new production facility not only strengthens Utah’s economy but also reinforces our reputation as a place where international companies thrive,” said David Johnson, economic development director for Cedar City and Iron County. “We look forward to the success of PPI America Inc. in Cedar City and welcome it to southern Utah.”
