On Thursday, Feb. 20, the Utah Health Scholars Program hosted a Lights, Camera, Kahoot event in the Sharwan Smith Student Center Ballroom that challenged Southern Utah University students’ film and television knowledge.
Upon arrival, participants received raffle numbers for a chance to win an iPad. The event featured eight rounds of Kahoot, each consisting of 15 questions covering various film series and genres, including “Harry Potter,” “The Office” and “The Hunger Games.”
Pizza and drinks were provided for participants, along with prizes such as an air fryer, blankets, board games and more for Kahoot winners.
“My favorite part was genuinely my friends continually winning like it got more fun as it went by,” said event attendee Megan Anderson. “Plus, I got a hundred percent on Hunger Games — that was crazy, I didn’t know I was into it.”
Dani Asher, an art major and winner of the iPad raffle, shared how the event benefited her.
“I enjoyed being with my friends and I also did enjoy winning an iPad. I was really stressed about buying one because I needed it for my art class, but since I got it I don’t need to spend that money and that’s very nice,” said Asher.
The event was sponsored by the Cambia Health Solutions corporate foundation. Partners with UHS, the foundation supports wellness events as well as the Behavioral Health Technician course at SUU. As midterms can be stressful, the event was designed to help students unwind.
“Spending time with people and away from stuff that worries me always helps. So It was a great way to distress,” said event attendee Lilly Coppi.
The Utah Health Scholars program is open to anyone interested in pursuing a health-related field. The program provides guidance and assistance to students aiming for careers in healthcare.
“Anybody that wants to go into healthcare fields either medical school, physician assistant, pharmacy, nursing, or any healthcare profession, can just come chat with us and get some advice on how to get there,” said UHS Program Manager Franka Smit.
The next UHS event will be a High Fitness class in the Student Center Ballroom on April 1 at 5:30pm. More information can be found on their Instagram and their website, as well as at their office located in room 304 of the Science Building.
