SUU Outdoors will host three big trips in February for Southern Utah University students and community members. They will go hiking in Sedona, snowshoeing in Bryce Canyon and rock climbing in the Green Valley Gap.
Their first trip will span four days from Feb. 14 to Feb. 17. They will head to Sedona, Arizona, about a five-hour and 30-minute drive from Cedar City. The cost is currently undetermined. Sign-ups will be held Monday, Feb. 3, at noon at SUU Outdoor’s Basecamp in the Sharwan Smith Student Center.
The next trip will be on Saturday, Feb. 22, to go snowshoeing in Bryce Canyon. This free event will hold sign-ups on Monday, Feb. 10, at noon at Basecamp.
On Saturday, March 1, SUU Outdoors will take people to the Green Valley Gap climbing area to go rock climbing. The sign-ups are at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at Basecamp.
With SUU Outdoors trips, it is important to remember that lines may form so they recommend getting there early. If you get in line, you must remain in line to keep your spot. Also, you have to be present to sign up.
There will be a pre-trip meeting for everyone who signs up sometime before each trip to get more information about supplies and travel. This is where waivers will be signed as well. Equipment will be available to rent if needed.
Throughout the month, they will hold smaller on-campus events such as Mindful Monday, which will include yoga and meditation. Check out their website for more information and updates about each event.
