Police Chief Darin Adams awarded Seven Cedar City Police Officers for their life saving acts at a Cedar City council meeting. Here, the officers’ stories were told and they were recognized for their service and heroism in the community.

Last October, Officer Benjamin Peterson saved the life of a woman found unconscious in her home, without a pulse. He immediately applied the AED machine and coached another person through CPR. The woman’s pulse returned and she was able to breathe again because of Peterson’s training.
“Officer Peterson’s ability to remain calm under pressure, take control of a tense situation and provide lifesaving aid reflects his exceptional training, courage and dedication to the safety of the community,” said Chief Adams.
The day of the council meeting, awards were also given to Cpl. Aaron Condie, Officer Justin Hatch, Officer Kyle Barrett, Officer Daniel Bowler, Officer Daisy McKern and Officer Mykeal White.
On Dec. 7 , 2024, these six people found Virginia Holyoak unconscious and not breathing properly after a severe crash on Main Street. Those involved took action with an AED machine, CPR and other measures. The woman was safely transported to the hospital and stabilized.
“Cpl. Condie was told directly by both a head EMT and an ER nurse that it was the officer’s initial actions that gave the patient the chance to reach the hospital and live,” expressed Adams.
These officers brought the council to tears with their heartfelt stories. Their heroic acts as part of the Cedar City Police Department have not gone unnoticed.
