Road closed to Cedar Breaks National Monument for winter

Residents of southern Utah planning a trip to Cedar Breaks National Monument or Dixie National Forest will have to find alternate routes after Route 148 is closed for the winter season.

However, vehicles can still access the northern side of Cedar Breaks National Monument via State Route 143, which will remain open throughout the winter, allowing access to the park. Check the Utah Department of Transportation’s website or call 511 for more information about the closures of SR-143 due to weather conditions.

“Recreational snowmobile activities remain restricted until adequate snow accumulation,” the press release stated. “As a friendly reminder, skiing down the amphitheater of Cedar Breaks remains prohibited, due to sensitive rock features and is subject to fines and penalties.”

Cedar Breaks National Monument is a staple for residents and visitors. The park features multicolored rock formations that anyone will enjoy. Prepare for your next trip to Cedar Breaks by visiting their website for more information about activities and road conditions.
