Former President Donald Trump returns to White House following 2024 presidential election

As election results are tallied, the Associated Press has declared former President Donald Trump the 47th president of the United States with 292 Electoral College votes overall.

In the national presidential election, an overall 270 Electoral College votes are needed to win the presidency. Each state has electors based on their respective members of Congress, leaving a combined total of 538.

Trump previously served as U.S. President from 2017-2021. As of Nov. 6, Trump leads with 292 electoral votes and Vice President Kamala Harris is behind with 224. Electoral votes are still being decided in Alaska, Arizona, Maine and Nevada.

Vice President Kamala Harris will deliver a concession speech at Howard University in Washington at 4 p.m.
