Over the last decade, Southern Utah University has doubled enrollment by increasing online programs and recruitment.
The university’s high of 15,444 students is a 2.7% increase from last fall. SUU’s increase of online programs plays a key factor, as over 3,500 students are completely online.
“Each of SUU’s online classes upholds our high standards, offering the flexibility and quality necessary for our students to reach their education goals and thrive regardless of where they are physically located,” said Steve Meredith, Associate VP of Enrollment Management for Graduate and Online Services.
The Presidential Ambassador team also plays a critical role in the increase in student enrollment by planning open houses and visiting high schools. They visit schools around the state and west coast, ensuring students know what SUU has to offer.
“The Provo open house was beyond successful,” said Presidential Ambassador Sam Kirkby. “We expected a lot of people to come but we had no idea we would have so many students come to get pumped about SUU.”
This team gives personalized tours to ensure students who visit campus feel cared for and connected to campus resources.
“While SUU has seen significant growth over the last decade, we’ve maintained the personalized learning environment that SUU is known for,” said Shauna Mendini, Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. “Our classes remain small and continue to be taught by highly qualified and caring faculty.”
Enrollment is expected to grow and surpass 16,000 by the end of the Fall 2024 semester.
