Men’s golf finishes last in Cowboy Classic

The Southern Utah University men’s golf team competed in the University of Wyoming Cowboy Classic on Monday, April 1, and Tuesday, April 2, in Maricopa, Arizona, at the AK-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club. The Thunderbirds finished in last place at No. 23.

Top teams
— Grand Canyon University took first with an impressive -31.
— The University of Nevada, Las Vegas finished at -29, good for second place.
— Iowa State University finished third with a -28.

Top individuals
— UNLV’s Yuki Moriyama finished first with a -17, including an impressive -8 in the final round.
— Iowa State’s Luke Gutschewski finished second, scoring -12.
— Grand Canyon’s Matthew Pettington finished third with a -11.

Thunderbird performances
— Rashon Williams finished tied for No. 60 with a +1.
— Mitchell Abbott finished tied for No. 95 with a +6.
— Leo Torres finished tied for No. 105 with a +10.
— Colton Cherry finished tied for No. 113 with a +13.
— Charlie Gillespe finished No. 120 with a +29. 

What’s next?
Southern Utah will next compete in the University of Northern Colorado Spring Invitational on April 15 and 16. The match will take place in Windsor, Colorado, at the Raindance National Golf Resort.
