Davis and Labra place top 20 at nationals and win Second-Team All-American

Astley Davis and Isaiah Labra capped off the end of the indoor track and field season for Southern Utah University at the NCAA Track and Field Indoor Championships this weekend. Labra took 12th in the mile run preliminaries, and Davis placed 16th in the triple jump finals. Labra and Davis were some of SUU’s best for the indoor season, and they were both awarded Track and Field Second-Team All-American honors for their incredible performances.

Astley Davis
Davis participated in the triple jump and traveled 49-9. This distance was just short of great competitors from South Carolina University and Northern Arizona University, but still placed him 16th out of 16 competitors. His performance comes after podium finishes at the Western Athletic Conference Championships in both the triple jump and long jump.

Isaiah Labra
Labra competed in the mile run and finished with a time of 4:00.67. This time placed him in front of notable competitors from Drake University, Furman University and Boston College. Labra did not make it to the finals since only the top 10 competitors in the preliminaries got to compete in that round.

Next for SUU
