The Southern Utah University gymnastics team will compete against Utah State University for the third time this season on Friday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m.
SUU is 1-1 against the Aggies this year, defeating them at the Rio Tinto Best of Utah meet 194.000-193.600, and losing at the SUU Tri-Meet 195.375-195.075.
The meet can be streamed through the Mountain West Network.
Utah State
The Aggies are coming off a win against the U.S. Air Force Academy. They currently rank No. 52 in the nation with an average team score of 194.275.
USU is led by senior Brianna Brooks. She is an all-around star currently ranked No. 90 in the nation with an average of 38.725. Utah State has also gotten a big contribution from freshman Nyla Morabito. She posted a career-high 9.850 on the vault in the Aggies’ last meet, good for first on the team.
Southern Utah
After being narrowly defeated by the University of Iowa, the Flippin’ Birds are ranked No. 40 at an average of 195.131 points.
Freshman Niya Randolph has started her career off hot for the Flippin’ Birds. She sits at the No. 81 spot on the individual all-around leaderboard with an average of 38.919. SUU’s Kayla Pardue made a splash against the Hawkeyes, finishing first in the vault at 9.850. On top of that, she tallied a score of 9.825 on the floor.
