Snow College and Southern Utah University have signed an agreement that will benefit students pursuing an elementary education degree. Students who finish their associate degree at Snow will be eligible to transfer their degree to SUU, where they will complete the final two years of coursework.
On Oct. 18, 2023, academic deans, department chairs and members of the SUU provost’s office attended the Powerful Pathways Partnerships field trip to Snow College, where a short ceremonial signing of the first transfer pathway agreement was signed. The group worked to brainstorm ways to better assist transfer students with the completion of their bachelor’s degree without repetition.
This partnership allows students majoring in elementary education to finish their bachelor’s degree through SUU’s program online or on campus. This allows flexibility for students and provides them with more opportunities to work in local schools.
“Our new partnership with SUU will allow our students to certify as teachers while remaining part of the Snow College community,” said Snow College Provost Michael Austin.
Students who complete their associates degree at Snow meet the minimum GPA requirements and take the appropriate courses can then transfer their work to SUU. While this partnership focuses on elementary education majors, it opens the door for future pathway agreements.
“We are excited to work with Snow College on this and other innovative new partnerships,” shared SUU Associate Provost James Sage. “This unique and innovative partnership will better serve students and help them to achieve their educational goals.”
This partnership provides the way for more agreements and works to remove barriers for students wanting to earn their diploma. As students weigh their degree options, SUU provides them with opportunities and access to the courses needed to finish their degree.
