Cedar City law enforcement were involved in a fatal shooting on Monday Nov. 11 at approximately 1 p.m. near 820 South and Sunset Dr.
Cedar City Police responded to a phone call concerning a man threatening his family and law enforcement.
Officers responded to the scene, and asked the man to come toward police with his hands up after announcing their presence. The subject approached the officers with a handgun pointed towards police.
Law enforcement officers fired multiple shots hitting the man. Once incapacitated, law enforcement began immediate lifesaving efforts until medical aid could arrive.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting. None of the law enforcement officers were injured during the incident.
The call that initiated that incident came from a female reporting that her husband was making threats towards herself and her adult son.
The Iron/Garfield/Beaver Critical Incident Task Force is currently investigating the incident according to the Iron County Sheriff’s Office.
No names have been given at this time.
