SUUSA Senate Meeting 10/29

The leaders of the Student Association at SUU say that the Legal Counsel Series is well on its way, as they are officially beginning the search for attorneys. This announcement, along with many others, was made during the weekly Senate meeting on Oct. 29, 2019 at 11:40 a.m.

During this week’s meeting, SUUSA announced that they are finalizing the dates for the Education Talk Series, which will begin sometime in January.

They are also planning to update the SUUSA website, making it more easily accessible for students. The Club Information Website has been announced as finished and can now be used as a club resource.

An Academic Senate has been created, and there is some discussion regarding what responsibilities this part of the senate will have. There is also a newly created scholarship committee, chaired by Chris Westwood, that will oversee the plans to award students a SUUSA scholarship in the near future.

As far as events go, the Day of the Dead event is on Nov. 2 from 2-6 p.m. in the SUMA building. Explore and Prepare is scheduled for Nov. 13 from 6-8 p.m. The Flowers on the Inside event is Nov. 15 from 5-6 pm. Locations for both of these events will be announced shortly.

The Know Your Rights workshop and the new show A Year with Frog and Toad have been announced, but details regarding time, date and location will also be announced soon.

All of the board directors that sit on the SUUSA Senate were in attendance to this weekly Senate Meeting, where they discuss the matters from previous weeks as well as shared new announcements for weeks to follow.

“It is an important meeting for us as a team to know who’s working on what, and what type of help is needed from each other. It’s a really good thing to do this weekly,” said Numan Kante, Upper Division Senator on SUUSA.

For those wanting to tune in, the meetings are held in the Sterling Church Auditorium and are also live-streamed on the SUUSA Facebook page.
