On Friday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m., the Student Programming Board of SUU hosted the annual Mr. SUU Pageant event in the upper auditorium on campus.
The competition consisted of three different categories: talent, school spirit, and formal wear. Six contestants competed, including Jared Cooksey, Michael (Mikey) Stevens, Justin Davis, Tevita Loamanu, Jeremy Garcia and Max Barnaby.
Each strove to keep the audience intrigued. With a full house, there was never any lack of cheering.
After the competition, three of the contestants were given a title. Jared Cooksey was crowned the newest Mr. SUU, Jeremy Garcia was the first runner up, and Mikey Stevens was voted the People’s Choice Award.
“Events like this allow students to find new friends,” said Brandon Gunny, Executive Director of STIL Marketing. “That’s how I got friends, when I started going to events. That is why doing things like this is so beneficial.”
Events such as Mr. SUU truly do bring students together, and with a new semester, students will have plenty of opportunities to meet new people and have some fun.
The next SPB event will be Miss SUU on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 6:30 p.m. in the same auditorium.
