The Southern Utah University Student Association held their weekly senate meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 3 to go over current campus issues and events. Below are the highlights:
SUUSA Presents Meet Your Student Representatives:
The new official name for the event taking place on Thursday, Sept. 5, at 11:30 a.m. on the Library Plaza is Meet Your Student Representatives.
The goal of this event is for SUU students to meet their student representatives, and encourage them to reach out in the future for any help or questions.
SUUSA hopes to improve their general image to be more approachable to the student body, much like the ACES.
Paint the Town Red
Paint The Town Red, which took place Friday, Aug. 30, was one of the most successful years in the history of the event. More students and clubs were in attendance than previous years. Due to these numbers, more students signed up to be in clubs and participate in extracurricular activities offered.
Student Legal Services
SUUSA is trying to bring free legal service to campus. Students would be able to talk to an attorney for 30 minutes for any legal advice free of charge.
Brandon Payne, Vice President of Academics, said, “We’re going to see what we can do to make that a reality.”
Students will be surveyed at the Meet Your Student Representative event on Thursday, Sept. 5 on this topic.
Senate Meetings occur weekly on Tuesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Sterling Church Auditorium. All Senate Meetings are open for SUU students and faculty to attend.
