Amanda, Please! Shawn and Camila Didn’t Kiss and I’m Angry

If you haven’t heard by now, rumors of pop singer/god Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello dating have been going around for most of the summer.

At first, the news was soul crushing to many, including myself. I would die for Shawn. I would actually give my life for him. How could he betray me by possibly dating a very beautiful and successful woman? Men… Am I right?

But then something happened. Something so incredibly musically steamy that the internet should not have allowed it.

On the evening of June 20, VEVO both gracefully blessed and annihilated the world with the release of “Señorita,” sung by both Shawn and Camila. Although the two have been saying they’re “just friends” for years, the music video screams otherwise. We’re talking possibly NSFW here.

Even the lyrics suggest differently: “You say we’re just friends, but friends don’t know the way you taste.”

Yeah, okay. Nice try, Shawn and Camila.

After its release, a new standard had been set for the art of risqué music videos. But more importantly, Shawn and Camila were spotted kissing in public on several occasions. The world tried to put a label on their relationship, but the two refused to talk about it publically. Camila even began touring with Shawn, but still refused to confirm or deny any fans’ suspicions.

This concept was frustrating, to say the least.

If I were dating Shawn Mendes, it would be my personal mission to make sure that every person alive knew about it. Even the dead, maybe.

When it was announced the two would be performing “Señorita” live at the 2019 VMAs, many believed it would be the moment they declare their love for each other. And honestly, I was rooting for them. Although I am clearly the woman best suited to date Shawn, Camila would be a noble person to lose him to.

Unfortunately, the two didn’t get that memo. Although there was plenty of microphone-sharing and shoulder-grazing, the two only teased the thought of kissing, ending the performance with an innocent nose boop.

Is it possible that the aspect of live television restricted their PDA? Perhaps.

Could they want privacy, like most human beings? Probably.

But the world needed more. Celebrities, such as the Jonas family, were caught on camera visibly distraught over the lack of smooching.

So why am I personally upset?

I’m tired of the teasing. It was exciting at first, but now I need some answers. We, a collective fanbase of their “relationship”, are disappointed. For someone who would do anything to nose boop Shawn Mendes, it’s infuriating to see a wasted opportunity.

So, Camila, until I can be Mrs. Shawn Mendes, please kiss him.
