Smith Named to WGCA All-American Scholar Team

Southern Utah’s Kyla Smith has been named to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team for the 2018-19 season.

Smith just concluded her junior season with Southern Utah, playing in all 11 competitions this year for the T-Birds. She is currently fourth all-time in program history in career stroke average (minimum two years and 40 rounds).

A total of 1,097 women’s collegiate golfers were recognized with this prestigious honor. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.

“To play at the level Kyla does and to perform so well in the classroom is a true testament to how hard of a worker she is,” SUU head coach Richard Church said. “We’re really proud of her and what she’s accomplished here at Southern Utah, and look forward to having her for another year.”
