The Southern Utah women’s tennis team ended their 2018-19 season in Phoenix, Arizona during the semifinals of the Big Sky Championship against Northern Arizona in a match that ended 0-4.
The NAU Lumberjacks started the doubles competition with wins across the courts. Charity Sagiao and Zoe Tantis match went unfinished in the No. 1 spot. Ghita Nassik and Daniela Cozzi, as well as partners Jessica Stefan and Jana Weiss fell to their opponents 1-6.
During singles play, Nassik was outplayed by Chiara Tomasetti 1-6, 0-6 on court one, putting the Lumberjacks up 2-0. Tanti lost her match in the No. 3 spot to Ellie Millard 1-6, 6-2. Sagiao fell short to Adrianna Sosnowska in then No. 4 spot 6-1, 6-1.
The matches on court two, five and six went unfinished as Northern Arizona pulled ahead 4-0.
Southern Utah looks forward to their upcoming seasons and are optimistic about the future of the program.
