The Southern Utah University Student Association (SUUSA) held their final senate meeting of the 2018-2019 school year on Tuesday, April 23 to go over current campus issues.
SUUSA granted funding of $240 to Sigma Chi fraternity for graduation patches. The committee also granted $63 to Orchesis, the SUU Dance Company team for operational purposes.
The end of the year provides opportunity for reflection on the highs and lows in an organization. For SUUSA, the 2018-2019 school year was about progress.
“At the beginning of the year a lot of the senate was apprehensive on how procedures worked,” said D’Mia Lamar, SUUSA President. “As the year moved on we got more comfortable and that’s when we began to excel in other projects.
President Lamar is content with SUUSA’s body of work this year.
“This group is extremely intelligent and I’m happy to have worked with them,” Lamar said. “I think we did a lot of great things this year.”
The Inauguration for next year’s senate will be held Friday, April 26 at 6 p.m. in the Sterling Church Auditorium. A Board of Trustees meeting will be held on May 2 to announce the final reports for the 2018-19 school year.
