Southern Utah University’s Golf team concludes their season over the next two weekends. The Women’s team finishes at the Big Sky Conference Championship tournament beginning on Friday. The Men’s team concludes play at the same conference tournament April 26th through the 28th.
The tournaments will be played at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.
Chanikan (Pluem) Yongyuan and Jake Vincent lead the team heading into the most important tournament of the season.
Youngyuan has been excellent all season for the T-Birds and picked up wins at the Red Rocks Invitational and Grand Canyon Women’s Spring Invitational.
The Thailand native is just a freshman, but has far and away been SUU’s best golfer this season. She represents SUU’s best chance of picking up silverware in Boulder City.
Kamonwan (Poy) Prasurtwong, Launa Wilson, Lindsay Aleman and Kyla Smith round out SUU’s team. The squad has had good performances all year, but will need to play their best to have a chance at the conference crown.
Vincent leads a strong team into the end of the season. It’s been another solid year for the first team All-Big Sky performer who has a strong chance at advancing to the NCAA Regional Championships.
Jaden Milne, Ethan Gray, Ali Hameed and Austin Jaramillo have consistently led the team throughout the season. The team has improved all season long and will hope to cap off their season with a solid performance at the championship.
The Men’s team has one more tune-up, the 2019 BYU Cougar Classic, this weekend before conference play.
The Big Sky Conference Championships will be April 19 to the 21 for the women’s team and April 26 to the 28 for the men’s team.
