Flippin’ Birds Finish Second at MRGC Championships
PROVO, Utah — The SUU women’s gymnastics team finished with an overall score of 195.900 to place second in the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Championships on Friday.
No. 13 Boise State took first place at 196.950, No. 15 BYU was third with a 195.750 and Utah State scored 193.800 to finish last.
Morgan Alfaro earned the Vault Event Champion title with a 9.900 and Hannah Nip was Co-Event Champion on the beam for SUU.
After the meet, Karley McClain was named MRGC Freshman of the Year.
SUU Basketball Earns First Postseason Victory
Southern Utah University pulled off a late comeback to secure the program’s first-ever Division I postseason victory on Friday.
The win came over the Drake Bulldogs, 80-73, in overtime to advance in the CollegeInsiders.com Postseason Tournament (CIT).

Softball Loses Series at Sacramento State
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — SUU lost both games of a double-header on Friday, March 22 before earning their first conference victory of the season 4-2 on Saturday.
Hanna Wynn was the winning pitcher for the Thunderbirds as her record improved to 2-6 on the season.
Designated player Hannah Williams went 1-2 with an RBI and third baseman Dream Weaver went 2-4 with one run in the victory.
The T-Birds (3-18, 1-2) will host a double-header against the University of Missouri Kansas City on Wednesday, March 27 at Kathryn Berg Softball Field. Game one will begin at 1 p.m. and the second will be played 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first. Both games will be streamed on Pluto TV Channel 236.
Women’s Tennis Beats the Bears
GREELEY, Colo.– The SUU women’s Tennis team defeated the Northern Colorado Bears 4-3 on Saturday, to improve to 9-5 overall and 2-0 in the Big Sky.
The T-Birds travel to Missoula to take on the Montana Grizzlies on March 29 then go to Bozeman to play Montana State on March 30.
Men’s Tennis Tops Portland State
CEDAR CITY, Utah– The SUU men’s tennis team beat Portland State 4-3 on Friday, March 22 to improve to 11-5 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
The Thunderbirds will host Eastern Washington on Saturday, April 6.
