Singing Your Way into Spring Break

The SUU Student Programming Board hosted a Spring Break Kickoff Open Mic Night on Tuesday March 5 in the Living Room to help get students into the vacation mood. Karaoke and an open microphone took center stage for the event as students lined up to sing in front of a crowd.

Performers waited their turn to select their music, choosing from a wide variety of songs. Soundtracks from High School Musical played throughout the night, as did childhood throwbacks such as Stereo Hearts by Gym Class Heroes.

There was more than just karaoke at the Spring Break Kickoff. Spikeball, Cornhole, a large version of Jenga and a large inflatable bowling set kept students entertained through the night.

Ice cream sandwiches and popsicles were available for all SUU attendees.

Ryan Sunderman, a freshman communications major, enjoyed his time at the event. Sunderman said his favorite moment of the Spring Break Kickoff came when he enjoyed a game of bowling.

The SUU SPB set out to give students a break from their mid-term stress and to get them in the mood for the upcoming break from classes. Sunderman believes the fun was noticeable, saying “it was cool watching a lot of students having fun.”
