SUU’s Thin Line Comedy Club is back and looking to bring laughs to the university. The group meets in the Student Center’s theater on Wednesdays from 7:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The new club formed late last semester and performed its first show in the church auditorium. Their goal for this current semester is to expand and do more shows.
Joshua Bowman, one of the founding members of the club, encouraged students to come and check out the club stating, “Come and watch… It’s almost like a free comedy show every Wednesday.”
Bowman and fellow SUU student Hayden Cannon led the events for the night by showing popular sketches, talking about comedians, and finishing the night by actually having the members participate in various improv games.
They also were very encouraging for members to bring stand-up material and practice what they find funny.
Cannon, the club’s vice president stated, “You can bring anything and get constructive criticism.”
Sitting back and simply watching the games was also encouraged for those who did not wish to actively participate.
The group is currently negotiating with The Lair and the Bread and Soup Night event for additional performance opportunities.
Bowman has high hopes that the club will become known throughout the school and will continue to grow as people learn what they do and how they can participate.
