SUU Gymnastics Red/White Scrimmage

CEDAR CITY — SUU’s gymnastics team will hold their season preview Friday night and give fans their first look at the 2019 Flippin’ Birds.

The event will showcase many of the new members of the team and allow fans to see how the returning members have progressed in the offseason.

The team is looking to improve on the 2018 campaign where the Flippin’ Birds placed fourth in the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference and lost in seven meets.

The 2019 Flippin’ Birds welcome seven freshmen to the squad. They will compliment the seven upperclassmen within the team, including two seniors and five juniors.

Team Captain Kamryn Bayer looks to lead the team along with returning teammates Autumn Jorgensen and Karen Gonzalez.

The team will compete in one rotation of each event for the scrimmage. It provides an opportunity for the team to practice performing more complex tricks in front of a live audience.

Previous red/white scrimmages have fielded large audiences and highlight the support that the campus offers for the Flippin’ Birds.

The scrimmage will be held Friday at 7 p.m. in the America First Events Center. Follow @SUUGym for any updates about the team.
