This week SUU men’s basketball will look to defeat Weber State University and Idaho State University at home after losing to both teams on the road earlier this month, while SUU hockey’s advanced and beginner teams hope to continue the winning streak they have had for the past week.
Hockey
The SUU advanced hockey team is currently in fourth in the Cedar City Adult Hockey Advanced League (CCAHAL) standings with a 2-4 record. The SUU beginner hockey team is currently first in the Cedar City Adult Hockey Beginner League (CCAHBL) standings with a 6-0 record.
The advanced team is set to face Rally Stop at 9 p.m. tonight at The Glacier Ice Rink. The Thunderbirds have played Rally Stop once before, losing 1-11 on Jan. 8.
In their last game the advanced team defeated Hinton Burdick 6-3 on Jan. 22. The team also scrimmaged with Southern Utah Independent High School Hockey Monday night, winning 5-3.
Rally Stop is currently in third in front of SUU in the CCAHAL standings with a 2-2 record.
The undefeated beginner team will play against Staheli West tomorrow night. The last time the Thunderbirds played them SUU solidly defeated Staheli West 11-0 on Dec. 21, 2017.
In their last game the beginner team defeated Safari 3-0 on Jan. 23.
Staheli West is currently in second behind SUU in the CCAHBL standings with a 3-2 record.

Men’s Basketball
SUU men’s basketball is currently in tenth place in the Big Sky Conference standings with a 2-7 conference record and a 8-12 overall record.
The Thunderbirds will face their in-state rival the Weber State University Wildcats tomorrow night in the America First Event Center at 6:30 p.m and the Idaho State University Bengals on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. this week.
Weber State is currently in second in the Big Sky Conference standings with a 6-2 conference record and a 13-7 overall record. The last time the Thunderbirds and the Wildcats faced off was on the road in Ogden on Jan. 6, where SUU lost 76-92.
Idaho State University is currently in seventh in the Big Sky Conference standings with a 4-4 conference record and a 9-10 overall record. SUU and the Bengals last met on the court in Pocatello, Idaho, on Jan. 4, where SUU lost 78-93.
The Wildcats’ and Bengals’ played their last game against each other in Pocatello, which Weber State won 77-70.
