Around the Big Sky: FCS Playoffs Round One

Southern Utah: BYE

San Diego at Northern Arizona: USD junior quarterback Anthony Lawrence threw for 228 yards and three TD to help hand NAU an embarrassing 41-10 loss. Freshman running back Emilio Martinez ran for 117 yards and a TD in the victory. The Lumberjacks only managed a measly 238 total yards. NAU is now eliminated from the FCS playoffs.

Western Illinois at Weber State: Senior quarterback Stefan Cantwell passed for 186 yards and three TD to lead the Wildcats to a 21-19 win over WIU. Senior wide receiver Drew Batchelor caught four passes for 52 yards and two TD in the win. The Leathernecks scored a TD with just under five minutes left in the game to make the score 21-19, but they were never able to get the ball back thanks to a methodical game-ending drive by WSU. The Wildcats will travel to Cedar City to take on SUU in the second round of the FCS playoffs on Dec. 2. The two teams met earlier this season in Ogden as SUU claimed a dominant 32-16 victory.

Round 2 Schedule: Weber State (10-2; 7-1) at Southern Utah (9-2; 7-1), 6 p.m. MST, ESPN3.
