Around the Big Sky: Football Week 7

Southern Utah at No. 16 Weber State: The Thunderbirds pulled off the upset in their commanding 32-16 road victory over Weber State on Saturday. The T-bird defense held Weber State to only 250 total yards and didn’t allow the Wildcats to reach the end zone on offense. The lone Wildcat touchdown came on a kickoff return. Senior quarterback Patrick Tyler threw for 281 yards and three TDs in the win. SUU’s junior tight end Logan Parker tallied six receptions for 118 yards and two TDs including a 78-yard score on the second play of the game.

North Dakota at No. 24 Montana: Montana’s freshman quarterback Gresch Jensen threw for 423 yards, three TDs and two interceptions in their 41-17 win against North Dakota. Jensen also ran for 36 yards and a TD in the victory.

Montana State at No. 10 Eastern Washington: Junior quarterback Gage Gubrud completed 25 of 31 passes for 224 yards and a TD to lead Eastern Washington to a 31-19 win over Montana State. Sophomore running back Antoine Custer Jr. had a big day for EWU, running for 147 yards and two TDs.

Northern Arizona at Portland State: Sophomore quarterback Case Cookus passed for 347 yards and four TDs in Northern Arizona’s 42-20 win at Portland State. NAU’s junior running back Cory Young gained 109 yards on 13 carries and notched one TD.

Idaho State at Sacramento State: Sacramento State was led by junior quarterback Kevin Thomson who threw for 254 yards and two TDs in their 41-21 win against Idaho State. Thomson also ran for 85 yards and a TD in the game.

Individual Leaders: Passing- Gage Gubrud (Eastern Washington): 2,412 yards; Rushing- Chris Murray (Montana State): 631 yards; Receiving- Keelan Doss (UC Davis): 870 yards; Kicking- Trey Tuttle (Weber State): 13/13 field goals.
