Two Days Complete, One To Go At Aggie Invitational

The Thunderbird women’s golf team wrapped up their second day at the New Mexico State Aggie Invitational on Tuesday, with one day remaining at the New Mexico State Golf Course.

Sophomore Kamonwan (Poy) Prasurtwong had an improved performance on Tuesday, shooting a 74 that improved upon the 79 she scored on Monday. The score left her with a 153 and put her in a tie for 24th place.

Nicole Jones was second for the Thunderbirds on Tuesday, finishing the day with a 79. Her two-day total is currently a 161, and is tied for 48th on the leaderboard. Sophomore Kyla Smith finished one shot behind Jones, shooting her second straight 81 to bring her two-day total to 162.

Lindsay Aleman (84, 86) and Launa Wilson (81, 89) finished fourth and fifth respectively for the Thunderbirds.

As a team the Thunderbirds shot 320, which was a three shot improvement from Monday’s finish. This brought their two-day total to 643.

Sacramento State sits in first after two rounds, shooting a 585 (287, 298) over two days. UTEP (595) and UC Riverside (596) are in second and third respectively after two days.

Lily Downs from UTEP and Kiselya Plewe from Weber State are tied for the top spot on the leaderboard after the second day in Las Cruces.

Play will resume at 8:30 on Wednesday morning, as the teams will have a shotgun start.
