The Thunderbird women’s golf team wrapped up competition at the 2017 Rose City Collegiate on Tuesday, finishing in ninth place as a team.
Kyla Smith was the top finisher at the event for the Thunderbirds, finishing in a tie for 12th place on the leaderboard. She finished with a 221 (75, 71, 75). Both of SUU’s top-two finishers were sophomores, as Kamonwan (Poy) Prasurtwong finished second for SUU and in a tie for 26th on the leaderboard with a 225 (78, 71, 76).
Senior Miranda Reyes was third for the Thunderbirds and in a tie for 35th at the end of the event, shooting a 227 (78, 75, 74).
Lindsay Aleman (238) and Nicole Jones (239) finished fourth and fifth for the Thunderbirds respectively.
As a team the Thunderbirds shot 907 (310, 294, 303) at the event, which put them in ninth place overall.
Cal Poly won the event, shooting a 871 (291, 283, 297). Portland State (872) and Nevada (880) were in second and third respectively.
Portland State’s Tara Finigan won the event, shooting a 212 (70, 69, 73).
The Thunderbirds will have a quick turnaround this week, as they’ll be competing at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert on Saturday.
