SUU Athletic Strategic Communications
The Thunderbird men’s golf team opened their 2017-18 campaign on Friday at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, and were led by senior Fidel Concepcion through 18 holes of play.
Concepcion finished the round tied for 16th on the leaderboard after shooting a one-under 71. He is currently tied with seven other golfers for that spot.
Jake Vincent was second for the Thunderbirds today, finishing in a tie for 55th on the leaderboard after shooting a two-over 74.
Christian Karren finished third for SUU on the day, shooting a 79.
In his first round of collegiate golf, SUU’s Austin Jaramillo shot 80. Bradley Collet finished fifth for the Thunderbirds on Friday, ending his round with a 83.
As a team the Thunderbirds ended the day in 18th place.
Colorado State sits on top of the team leaderboard after the first day, with Colorado and Wyoming tied for the No. 2 spot.
Four different golfers are tied for the top spot on the individual leaderboard.
Competition will continue tomorrow morning with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m.
