Southern Utah University’s graduation is coming up on Friday, April 29, and this year there will be a full day of ceremonies to celebrate the graduates and all of their accomplishments. Southern Utah University soccer player Natalia Sepulveda grew up in Tucson, Arizona to parents who immigrated to the United States from Mexico. She just finished her freshman year as a defender for the Thunderbirds but also has the opportunity for something much greater. Several Southern Utah University athletes along with Turning Point USA held a Protect Women’s Sports rally on Wednesday, April 20, in response to the march and protest in support of transgender rights last week. Before the regular season rolls around in late summer, Southern Utah University football will host its Spring Game to culminate the spring training season. The intersquad scrimmage is set for Saturday, April 16, at 1 p.m and is free to the public. On Thursday, April 14, a group of Southern Utah University students gathered in solidarity on the Gerald R. Sherratt Library plaza to protest the passage of HB0011, a bill that bans transgender students from participating in their gender-preferred sport that will take effect July 1. Volume V, issue III of the University Journal, SUUNews’ serial publication, was just released on Monday, April 11. This last journal of the 2021-22 school year is the Graduation Edition and the first ever double-sided version, so be sure to read both sides when you grab a copy!
