Southern Utah University is hosting its third annual Giving Thor’s Day on Thursday, April 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Multiple events will occur throughout the day, with chances to earn $1000 scholarships:
- Photos with Thor – Tradition Keeper opportunity
- “How Far Can You SOAR?” – Paper Airplane Competition ($1000 scholarship available)
- “Feel the Thunder” Static Electricity Challenge ($1000 scholarship available)
- SUU Trivia – Put your Thunderbird knowledge to the test (Drawing for 5 possible $500 scholarships)
- Punch Pass – Get a treat voucher to Dippers/Slurp’s Up (Complete to punch pass to be entered into a drawing for a chance to win 1 of 5 $500 scholarships)
- Hammerfest – Individual Hammerhold Competition ($1000 scholarship available to male and female winners)
The team hammerhold competition will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with students, faculty and alumni given the chance to compete. Even those who don’t compete can still participate by placing bets/donations on who will win. Participants who correctly guess the winner will win a free Jersey Mike’s sandwich.
The annual Giving Thor’s Day allows the community to support the university through donations, starting at $4. The money is used to fund scholarships, campus programs and other initiatives. Last year, Giving Thor’s Day raised $26,776 between 167 contributors.
Anyone who donates will be entered into a drawing to win a prize package and the winner will be announced and contacted by April 3. To view the included prizes or to donate, visit this website.
