SUU’s casino night will bring the racing world to campus

For the 2026 edition of its most famous spring event, the Southern Utah University Student Programming Board is bringing the racing world to campus. This year’s Casino Night theme is “Race Around the World,” and it will be held Saturday, March 28 from 8 p.m. to midnight in the Sharwan Smith Student Center.

Throughout the building, students will be able to deal into a variety of games, from blackjack and craps to bingo, Mario Kart and more. The Starlight Room will offer refreshments and photo opportunities alongside the action.

The evening will give attendees the chance to enjoy table games without putting their own money on the line. Upon arrival, participants will receive poker chips to play in any games of their choosing and get a chance to win prizes.

“I wanted to do something a little bit different and F1 was a huge thing, so I was like, that’s perfect,” said SPB Director Brighton Torgerson. “I’m just excited for all of it. I tried to make it more diverse because I know a lot of people come to Casino Night, so hopefully people feel more included at the event.”

Torgerson made sure there was something for everyone. Beyond the casino tables, the event will have a UNO table, a cozy corner with LEGOs and more for students who want to play other games.

“Just come, make the most of it,” Torgerson added. “We tried to make it really diverse because every student is different. Come try it out and you’ll find your people, you’ll find your place.”

Students can enter using their student ID. Non-student tickets can be purchased at the STIL office in ST 177. Only clear bags will be allowed in the building.
