Cedar City to receive an increase in temperatures this week

After long months of below-freezing temperatures and cloudy skies, the weather forecast in Cedar City, Utah, will receive record-breaking warmth for the remainder of the week.

The temperatures on Tuesday, March 17, through Thursday, March 19, will reach 70 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit, approximately 20 to 30 degrees above average for this time of the year.

The warm temperatures will also bring sunny skies and calm conditions. Wind speeds will not exceed 15 mph. Cedar City residents can expect the warmest temperatures around 3 p.m. each day, with the sunset taking place at 7:30 p.m.

While many may be looking forward to the warm temperatures, others are disappointed by Cedar City’s underwhelming winter season and lack of snowfall, including skiers and those in the winter sports business.

“The overall feeling on the snow season has been disappointment, and especially coming off of last year,” said David Whitmore, owner of the Cedar Sports gear shop. “Last year was really bad, but people didn’t lose hope until mid-January … people this year lost hope in November.”

Despite the let-down for some, the warm weather can open a variety of opportunities for residents to enjoy Cedar City’s outdoor landscapes, including local hikes, nearby lakes and city parks.
