The 2026 High School Jazz Festival is almost here

The 13th annual High School Jazz Festival will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Heritage Center Theater at 105 N 100 E. This event is free and open to the public.

This event will help high schools prepare for regional jazz events. The band review will start Saturday morning with three experts conducting a comprehensive diagnosis of the stage.

Each school will have a full 50 minutes of stage performance time. Schools separate into three clinics and perform their entire set for the judges. Jazz bands will exchange and learn from each other in a non-competitive environment.

The Southern Utah University Jazz Ensemble One will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. featuring guest percussionist Jed Blodgett. At the evening concert, the outstanding performers of the day will be recognized, and the audience will also see some of the soloists who performed exceptionally well.

The specific arrangements are as follows:

9 a.m.-noon: Morning clinics/sessions

1 p.m.: Improvisation clinic

2-5 p.m.: Afternoon clinics/sessions

7:30 p.m.: Evening concert featuring SUU Jazz Ensemble One with guest Dr. Jed Blodgett.
