Cedar City is expected to experience rain and snowfall on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
According to The Weather Channel, Wednesday will have a high of 48 degrees Fahrenheit, with a 55% chance of rain. That temperature is expected to decrease throughout the day, with a low of 32 degrees expected that night.
This could bring hazardous conditions for SUU students and Cedar City residents , as the low temperatures have the potential to cause the rain and snow to freeze overnight. This could cause roadways and paths to become slick with black ice.
Experts warn of the dangers of driving on black ice, citing its near-invisible nature as a key component in accidents on the road. However, there are some tips that you can implement to stay safe while driving, such as keeping your steering wheel straight, taking your foot off the accelerator and refraining from slamming your breaks.
It is also necessary to provide plenty of distance between yourself and other drivers in order to protect yourself and others on the road.
The weather is expected to clear up for the remainder of the week, but there is still a chance of snow beginning Sunday, Feb. 15.
