KJ’s Ice Barn in Enoch, Utah, hosted its second annual Skate for Cancer fundraiser on Friday, Jan. 23. Attendees paid $10 a ticket, and all proceeds were donated to local families battling cancer.
A figure skating show was presented for the fundraiser, and students from KJ’s ice skating classes performed their routines. Dancers of all ages participated, from young children to adults and even a daddy/daughter duo.
KJ’s Ice Barn hosts multiple fundraisers throughout the year. The rink is named after and dedicated to a well-known community member in the local hockey scene. After she passed from cancer, the rink has made it its goal to support other local families and cancer clinics.
“This ice rink is a blessing to Enoch and every resident in Southern Utah,” said Justin Godfrey. “Well worth checking it out and we will definitely take advantage of all the youth hockey and learn to skate programs to keep the kids active this winter.”
Besides fundraisers, KJ’s offers year-round skating classes and youth hockey leagues. The rink is also home to the junior hockey league, Iron County Yeti, and their games are played at the rink multiple weekends throughout the season. Other amenities include a gym, pickleball courts and a snack bar.
“This is the home ice of the Jr League team, the Iron County Yeti, as well as the local hockey team, Southern Utah Independent,” said Carrie Mae. “Both of which put on a great show laced with all of the excitement you would expect from a great hockey game.”
Only a 15 minute drive from Cedar City, KJ’s Ice Barn is a great weekend activity for families and students. Hockey tickets are discounted with a student ID, and the rink is open to the public almost every afternoon.
