Cedar Breaks National Monument implements guided snowshoe tours

Cedar Breaks National Monument is now holding guided snowshoe tours every weekend during the winter.

The tours will be held at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday for the remainder of the winter season. These tours will consist of a beginner-friendly hike through the snowy terrain around the monument, followed by a 15- minute ranger program at the halfway point of the hike.

The entire experience will last about one hour and thirty minutes. The equipment, including snowshoes and a pair of ski poles, is available to all participants at no cost.

Reservations are required due to limited parking spaces and equipment. There is also a fee of $10 per person to access Cedar Breaks.

Due to the snowy, mountainous conditions around Cedar Breaks, winter clothing is strongly encouraged. Any participants should come prepared with winter coats, snow pants, gloves and hats or beanies.

These tours provide attendees with the unique experience of exploring Cedar Breaks during a time of year where access to the park is limited. These tours will also provide a look into the park’s geology and wildlife, showcasing the delicate ecosystem preserved at the national monument.
