“Song Sung Blue” was recently released in theaters on Christmas Day, 2025. The film follows the story of two musicians, a Neil Diamond impersonator (Hugh Jackman) and his partner (Kate Hudson).
Based on the true story of Mike and Claire Sardina, “Song Sung Blue” shows the struggles of aspiring musicians as they work to build their Neil Diamond tribute act.
“Song Sung Blue” was not your typical musical documentary. The film was an emotional roller coaster with stories of heartache and tragedy, all backed and based on the work of Neil Diamond.
Let me start by saying, this movie is fantastic. From the writers to the actors, everyone involved in “Song Sung Blue” did not disappoint. Both Jackman and Hudson delivered excellent performances in both their characters and their vocals.
“The chemistry between Hugh and Kate is palpable! These two charismatic characters brought this movie to life,” said movie critic Suzanne M.
Despite Neil Diamond being a classic within the “oldies” genre, this film is fit for everyone. The music is fun and uplifting, and aside from a few heavy topics, “Song Sung Blue” is overall a family friendly movie.
If you want to laugh, smile and cry all within the same two hours, I highly recommend this film.
